Changes to Hydration and Announcements on Sunday Morning Runs

The Club-provided start location hydration on Sunday morning runs has lately been seeing very little use.  The Board will discontinue providing hydration at the Sunday start location, as well as the Sunday Board member announcements, during the winter months of December through March, effective January 18th, 2026.  The policy will be revisited before the month of April. Board of Directors Elections - Nominations are open
The annual board elections are starting up! Nominations are open from January 1 to January 16. View the RR Board of Directors Job Descriptions, and, as you think of people who would be good for the positions,Nominate them here. If they are members and agree to run, they'll be on the ballot.

Annual Meeting and Dinner, February 7th, Reston Community Center

Enjoy a fun evening of socializing with fellow Club members, see the Reston Runners “year in review” and greet this year’s newly elected Board of Directors!  The Club will provide a Qdoba hot bar, beverages, and paper goods.  Guests are asked to bring a dish to share.  RSVP by February 3 2026 Annual Meeting RSVPto help us plan for food and beverage quantities.

Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Lottery Opens January 5 at 10 A.M.
The 2026 Cherry Blossom 10 Mile race lottery opens on January 5. 
Race day is Sunday, April 12.  So, get your entry in!

Jingle Bell Rock and Run

The 10 Weeks to 10K Training Program concluded with the festive Jingle Bell Rock & Run 10K on December 13th in Ashburn, VA. Twenty-eight program participants, coaches, club members and their guests participated. Eight of them won age group awards, and Simon T. won first prize for best costume! Congratulations to all finishers, and a sincere thank you to Nora L. and Rakelle M. for leading the program!


Two-Person Relay Race -- Saturday, November 22!

Expanded Distance Options Offered on Saturdays

The Club now offers both 3-mile and 10-mile distance options on Saturdays, in addition to the classic 5-mile distance. For more information, see Expanded Distance Options.

ONGOING AND UPCOMING EVENTS     

  • 2026 Annual Meeting and Party, February 7th, 2026 at Reston Community Center

  • Our Finish Line Services [FLS] Team needs volunteers. Contact Anna at <annabnewcomb@gmail.com>. After working at a race, volunteers will enjoy a free breakfast with our team. 

  • Run Thru Reston or "RTR" is on for Sunday, April 26, 2026.  This is Reston Runners' premier race event and will be our 13th annual race--race day includes both a Half Marathon and a 5K.  There is a link on our main menu called, “RTR.” All race information is now here:  RTR RACE.   Registration for both the Half Marathon and the 5K race is open!  Also, our RTR Half Marathon Training Program is now open for registration.  This 13-week program starting January 26th is tailored to progressively increase weekly long runs and leads right up to race day.  Register here: RTR Training Program Registration .

eNEWS is our Reston Runners weekly newsletter.  This newsletter is emailed weekly (usually on Thursdays) to anyone who subscribes (currently over 800 subscribers)!  To Subscribe:  Subscribe by entering your email and name on our eNEWS subscription page here: eNEWS.    It is recommended that you add “enews@restonrunners.org” to your email contacts list. This helps to ensure the eNEWS email is not filtered as spam and sent to your “Junk” folder.

  • RR Members: 

    • Login to our Website!  Many features of our new Reston Runners website are only available to active members who successfully log in. Click on the “Member Login” button in the upper right corner of the home screen. On the login screen, you can enter your User Name and Password. If you don’t remember your User Name or Password, simply click on “Forgot My Username/Password” button, and the information will be emailed to you.  If you have problems, please email our RR Membership Director or RR Webmaster for assistance.  Also note when logged in, you can see your membership expiration date on your Profile page.  Join Us(or renew your membership).   Run Happy!  
  • Discussion Forums:  The Discussion Forums feature on our RR website allows members to exchange information, share running advice, and engage in conversations through posted messages. We’ve recently added two new forums to support your running goals:
  • Marathon Training: Designed for members preparing for a marathon. Use this space to coordinate training plans and connect with fellow runners.
  • Upcoming Races: A forum for discussing specific race events. Members can express interest, ask questions, and share race details.

RESTON RUNNERS          

Reston Runners is based in Reston, Virginia and is a proud member of the Road Runners Club of America. We are one of the largest running clubs in Northern Virginia with a diverse range of athletic talent. Many new club members are training for their first 5K or 10K. Others are experienced runners who have run competitively and have completed dozens of marathons and ultramarathons. We are passionate about running (and walking) and strive to be fun and inclusive. As our name "Reston Runners" implies--we are a running club. However, we also have a very active group who prefer to walk. Our weekend events include both a run and a walk course.
